Ferrosilicon nitride is a mixture with Si3N4 as the main component, usually accompanied by free iron, non-ferrosilicon nitride and a small amount of other components. It is widely used in the fields of steelmaking and refractory materials, especially in blast furnace mud. It can significantly improve the plugging performance of the mud and meet the needs of blast furnace tapping. Ferro silicon nitride is a mixture with Si3N4 as the main component, usually accompanied by free iron, non-ferrosilicon nitride and a small amount of other components. It is widely used in the fields of steelmaking and refractory materials, especially in blast furnace mud. It can significantly improve the plugging performance of the mud and meet the needs of blast furnace tapping. The stability of ferrosilicon nitride performs well at high temperatures, especially in nitrogen atmosphere, where it can maintain high stability.

 

The stability of FeSiN is also related to its size. The coarser ferrosilicon powder size is conducive to the nitridation reaction, because the coarser ferro silicon powder will not cause the nitridation reaction to be too fast in the early stage of the reaction, thus avoiding over-sintering. In addition, FeSi3N4 has a series of advantages such as high refractory resistance, good corrosion resistance, high mechanical strength, good thermal shock resistance, low thermal expansion rate and high oxidation resistance. These characteristics make Fe-Si3N4 a good application in refractory materials, especially in castables, gun clay and composite refractory materials.

Physical and Chemical Properties

 

High Refractoriness:

Due to the presence of Si₃N₄ phase, it possesses high refractoriness, can withstand high-temperature environments, and is resistant to melting and deformation at high temperatures.

Good Corrosion Resistance:

It exhibits excellent resistance to slag, molten iron, and other media, and can withstand the erosion and corrosion of high-temperature melts.

High Mechanical Strength:

It possesses high strength, can withstand certain pressures and impacts, and is not easily broken or damaged during use.

Good Thermal Shock Resistance:

It maintains good stability even under rapid temperature fluctuations and is not susceptible to cracking or flaking due to thermal stress.

Low Thermal Expansion Coefficient:

It expands less when heated, allowing it to work well with other materials, reducing structural damage caused by differential thermal expansion.

High Oxidation Resistance:

At high temperatures, the oxidation of Si₃N₄ to form SiO₂ forms a protective film on the surface, hindering further oxidation and improving oxidation resistance.

The role of ferrosilicon nitride in molten iron


1. Regulating organization:

Ferrous silicon nitride can adjust the structure of molten iron to form fine and uniform grains, thereby improving the mechanical properties of molten iron. In addition, ferrosilicon nitride can also reduce inclusions in molten iron and improve the quality of molten iron.

2. Increase hardness:
