Calcium Silicon Alloy Uses
Application of calcium silicon alloy in steel metallurgy: Calcium silicon alloy is an important alloy additive in steel metallurgy. By adding calcium silicon alloy, the toughness and strength of steel can be increased, and the heat treatment properties of steel can be improved. Calcium silicon alloy can also reduce the sulfur content in steel and improve the quality and performance of steel.
Application of calcium silicon alloy in the foundry industry: Calcium silicon alloy is widely used in the foundry industry. It can be used as a deoxidizer and added to casting materials to reduce the oxide content in castings and improve the quality of castings. How To Produce Calcium Silicon
There are three kinds of production methods of silicon calcium alloy: mixed feeding method, layered feeding method and two-step method.
Mixed feeding method
The mixed feed method is to add silica, lime and coke to the reduction furnace. CaO and SiO2 are simultaneously reduced with carbon to calcium-silicon alloy. The reaction is caO+3SiO+7c=Casi2+Si+7CO
The disadvantage of this method is that calcium oxide and silicon dioxide come into contact to form a low melting point silicate. It is difficult to reduce silicon and calcium from silicates. Based on this situation, the layered feeding method is developed.
Layer feeding method
The purpose of this method is to reduce the contact between calcium oxide and silicon dioxide to reduce the formation reaction of Cao-siO2.
The layered feeding method is to first add lime and coke near the electrode, and melt the CaO to produce CaC2 as much as possible. Silica is then mixed with the remaining carbon and added to the furnace to produce a calcium-silicon alloy.
Two-step method
Silicon calcium and gold are first produced in an electric furnace. Then calcium silicon and gold are produced in the second circuit using calcium carbide, silica and carbonaceous reducing agent as raw materials.
The main advantage of this production method is that it can produce silicon calcium and gold with high calcium content. And the operation is relatively simple. Two electric furnaces can use calcium carbide to produce calcium silicon and gold.
