Ferrosilicon alloy is an important metallurgical material composed of two main elements: silicon and iron. Its chemical formula is FeSi. The silicon content of ferrosilicon is between 15% and 90%, while the iron content is between 10% and 85%.In addition, ferrosilicon also contains a small amount of impurity elements such as manganese (Mn), chromium (Cr), phosphorus (P), and sulfur (S). The content of these impurities is strictly limited in different grades of ferrosilicon.
Ferrosilicon production mainly adopts the electric furnace reduction method. Silica, coke, and iron filings are added to the electric furnace in a certain proportion, and the electrodes are energized to generate high temperatures, causing a reduction reaction in the furnace. At high temperatures, the carbon in the coke reduces the silicon dioxide in the silica to silicon, and combines with iron to form ferrosilicon alloy. During the reaction process, the quality and proportion of the raw materials, as well as the temperature and current in the furnace, need to be strictly controlled to ensure the quality and performance of the product.
