Calcium silicon cored wire is a wire material made of a strip steel strip wrapped with casi alloy powder, usually made of a 0.2mm thick low carbon steel thin strip. The core is mainly composed of casi powder, and sometimes other components such as aluminum are added as needed. The appearance is generally round or rectangular wire, and the diameter is usually 6-10mm. It has strong deoxidation and desulfurization capabilities. The Ca and Si in the calcium silicon wire have a strong affinity with oxygen and sulfur, and can react chemically with oxygen and sulfur in molten steel at high temperatures to generate corresponding oxides and sulfides.

Function and application

 

Deoxidation:

It can effectively remove oxygen from molten steel, reduce oxide inclusions in steel, improve the purity of steel, reduce the brittleness of steel, and improve the strength, toughness and fatigue performance of steel.

 

Desulfurization:

It reacts with sulfur in molten steel to generate sulfides such as calcium sulfide. These sulfides have a smaller density than molten steel and are easy to float to the surface of molten steel, thereby being removed, reducing the sulfur content in steel and improving the quality of steel.

 

Inclusion modification:

It can change the shape and properties of inclusions in molten steel, transforming them from sharp shapes that are harmful to the performance of steel into shapes such as spherical or ellipsoidal shapes that have less impact on the performance of steel, thereby improving the processing performance and service life of steel.

 

Improving the quality of castings:

In cast iron production, it can promote graphitization, spheroidize or refine graphite, improve the structure and properties of cast iron, and improve the strength, toughness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance of castings.

 

Reducing casting defects:

It helps to remove impurities and gases in molten iron, reduce defects such as pores and slag inclusions in castings, and improve the yield rate of castings.
