Silicon Metal 97 is the most economical basic industrial silicon with minimum silicon content ≥97.0%. Its impurity threshold (Fe≤1.5%, Al≤0.5%, Ca≤0.3%) is higher than medium/high-purity Si553 and Si441, so it features prominent price advantages for mass low-to-medium-end metallurgy and refractory production.

 

Produced via submerged arc furnace carbothermal reduction with ordinary quartz and conventional coke raw materials, Silicon 97 appears dark gray metallic lumpy solid with brittle texture. Compared with Silicon 441/Silicon 553, it is not suitable for high-end organosilicon monomers or thin-wall precision aluminum castings, but perfectly matches construction aluminum ingots, ordinary cast iron, refractory additives and ferroalloy raw materials. Our factory supplies full sizes including 0~1mm powder, 1~3mm granules and 10–100 large lumps for different melting furnaces.

Construction Aluminum Alloy Industry (Main Application)

Si97 is the primary silicon additive for architectural aluminum doors/windows ingots. It improves molten aluminum filling performance and meets the mechanical index requirements of low-demand aluminum profiles, significantly cutting factory raw material costs.

General Refractory Materials Production

Added to silica refractory bricks and furnace lining castables to form high-temperature anti-oxidation protective layer, reduce furnace body corrosion loss for medium-low temperature kilns.

Ferro Silicon Alloy Raw Material

As base raw material for smelting FeSi 65/FeSi 72 low-cost ferrosilicon deoxidizer for construction steelmaking.

Ordinary Cast Iron Foundries

Used as auxiliary graphitizing additive for low-standard gray iron pipe fittings and machinery castings.

Pre-Raw Material for Polysilicon Purification

Q1: What's the difference between Si97 and Si553?

A: Si97 higher Fe/Al/Ca impurities with lower price, only for construction aluminum and general refractories; Si553 low impurities for automotive cast aluminum and ordinary silicone.

Q2: Can Silicon Metal 97 be used for organosilicon monomer production?

A: No. Excess calcium impurities will poison the copper catalyst in the reactor, only Si441/3303 are applicable.

Q3: Recommended silicon addition ratio for architectural aluminum ingots?

A: Target Si content 7–10% of molten aluminum weight, adjust based recycled aluminum residual silicon value.
