It mainly plays the following roles:
Deoxidizer and desulfurizer: Silicon metal 3303 is used as a deoxidizer in the aluminum smelting process to help remove oxygen and other oxides from the aluminum melt. This is because silicon can form SiO₂ with oxygen, thereby reducing oxygen and expelling it from the melt, reducing oxygen residue and improving the purity and quality of aluminum. In addition, silicon also has a certain desulfurization effect, helping to reduce the sulfur content in aluminum alloys.
Alloy additives: Silicon 3303 is added to aluminum alloys to improve the mechanical properties of the alloy, such as tensile strength, hardness and wear resistance. Silicon forms a solid solution in aluminum alloys, strengthens the lattice structure of the alloy, and improves its tensile strength and fatigue strength, making it suitable for applications requiring high strength.
Grain refiner: Si 3303 can also be used as a grain refiner to reduce the grain size of aluminum alloys. Grain refinement helps to increase the strength and plasticity of the alloy, and can improve the processing properties and corrosion resistance of the alloy.
