Silicon chromium alloy has its own characteristics and advantages compared to other common ferroalloys in terms of strength and durability. Here are some comparative analyses:
Compared with ferromanganese alloy
Strength:
Ferro silicon chromium alloys are generally stronger. The presence of chromium can significantly improve the hardenability and hardness of steel, thereby enhancing the strength of the alloy. Although ferromanganese alloys can also improve the strength of steel, the effect is relatively weak. In the manufacture of some structural parts with higher strength requirements, CrSi alloys can better meet the requirements.
Durability:
Chromium silicon alloys have better durability. Chromium can form a dense oxide film on the surface of the alloy to improve corrosion resistance, while ferromanganese alloys have relatively poor corrosion resistance. Ferro silicon chrome alloys have a longer service life in environments exposed to moisture or corrosive media for a long time. However, ferromanganese alloys perform better in some specific wear-resistant applications. If silicon chrome alloys are to be used in wear-resistant applications, additional surface treatment may be required.

Compared with ferrosilicon alloy
Strength:
The main function of ferrosilicon alloy is deoxidation and silicon addition, and it is not as obvious as silicon chromium alloy in improving strength. The chromium element in silicon-chromium alloy has a greater effect on improving strength, making it more advantageous when bearing larger loads. For example, when manufacturing high-strength bolts, gears and other parts, the strength of chromium silicon alloy can better meet the use requirements.
Durability:
The corrosion resistance of ferrosilicon alloy is generally not as good as that of ferro silicon chromium alloy. The chromium in silicon chrome alloy gives it better oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance, while ferrosilicon alloy is relatively inferior in this regard. However, ferrosilicon alloy has better high temperature resistance and better stability in some high temperature environments. If the use environment is mainly high temperature rather than corrosive environment, ferrosilicon alloy may be more durable; but in most conventional industrial environments, CrSi alloy has better durability.

Compared with ferromolybdenum alloy
Strength:
Ferromolybdenum alloy can improve the strength, toughness and heat resistance of steel. In some high-end application fields, its strength performance has its own advantages over silicon chromium alloy. Molybdenum has a significant effect on improving the high-temperature strength and toughness of steel, while silicon-chromium alloy has outstanding strength performance at room temperature and medium and low temperatures. For example, in fields such as aerospace that have extremely high requirements for high-temperature performance of materials, molybdenum-iron alloys are widely used; in the field of general machinery manufacturing, silicon-chromium alloys can meet most needs with their high strength at room temperature.
Durability:
Molybdenum ferro alloys have better durability under extreme conditions such as high temperature, high pressure and strong corrosion, which is better than ferro silicon chrome alloys. However, in general industrial environments, chromium silicon alloys can also have good durability through reasonable composition design and surface treatment, and the cost is relatively low. Therefore, in general industrial applications, silicon chrome alloys are more cost-effective and more widely used.
