Manganese Ferro is an ferro alloy composed of manganese and iron. Used as a deoxidizer and synthetic additive in steelmaking.

 

The raw materials for making Ferro Manganese are generally manganese ore, coke, and lime containing manganese element, which are melted and fully reacted in a high-temperature environment and smelted. Ferro Manganese contains coke during the smelting, so it contains a certain amount of carbon inside. According to the content of carbon element, ferromanganese can also be divided into low carbon ferromanganese, medium carbon ferromanganese and high carbon ferromanganese.

 

Types of Ferro Manganese​


There are several types of manganese iron, classified based on their carbon content, which significantly influences their applications:​


High-Carbon FeMn: Contains 7% to 8% carbon and 75% to 80% manganese. It's the most commonly produced type and is widely used in steelmaking to deoxidize and desulfurize molten steel, as well as to increase hardenability.​
Medium-Carbon FeMn: Has a carbon content of 1.0% to 1.5% and manganese content of 75% to 80%. This type is used in applications where a balance between strength and ductility is required, such as in the production of high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steels.​
Low-Carbon FeMn: Contains less than 0.7% carbon and 80% to 90% manganese. It's ideal for manufacturing high-quality steels, including stainless steel and alloy steels, where low carbon levels are necessary to avoid brittleness.​
Ferromanganese with Low Phosphorus and Sulfur: Specifically processed to have low levels of phosphorus and sulfur, which are harmful impurities in steel. This type is used in the production of high-grade steels, such as those used in automotive and aerospace industries.​
