0-2mm calcium silicon granules have a large specific surface area. When in contact with molten steel, they can more fully undergo deoxidation and desulfurization reactions, effectively improve the purity of molten steel, and improve the quality of steel.

Good Uniformity

Particles in this size range can be distributed more evenly in the cored wire. During the wire feeding process, calcium silicon alloy can be stably added to the molten steel, making the reaction more stable and uniform, avoiding splashing caused by intense local reactions, and improving the safety and stability of the production process.

Production process requirements

 

Raw material selection:

The raw materials for producing calcium silicon granules are mainly silica, lime and coke. For 0-2mm calcium silicon granules used for calcium silicon cored wire, the raw materials are required to have high purity and low impurity content. The silicon dioxide content in silica should be above 95%, the effective calcium content in lime must meet certain standards, and the fixed carbon content of coke must also meet the requirements for producing high-quality silicon-calcium granules.

 

Crushing and screening:

First, the calcium silicon alloy lump is crushed by a crusher to make it smaller lumps. Then use screening equipment to screen the crushed granules, and strictly select granules with a size between 0-2mm as raw materials for producing calcium silicon cored wires, while granules that do not meet the size requirements need to be returned for re-crushing or used as raw materials for other specifications of products.

Deoxidation and desulfurization:

During the steelmaking process, silicon and calcium in casi granules can react chemically with oxygen, sulfur and other impurities in molten steel to generate stable oxides and sulfides, thereby achieving the purpose of deoxidation and desulfurization, reducing the content of harmful elements in steel, and improving the quality and performance of steel.

 

Alloying:

Silicon and calcium are added to steel as alloying elements to adjust the chemical composition of steel, improve the organizational structure of steel, and improve the strength, hardness, toughness, plasticity and other mechanical properties of steel, meet the performance requirements of different steel grades, and expand the application range of steel.

 

Improving the fluidity of molten steel:

The addition of casi granules can reduce the viscosity of molten steel, improve the fluidity of molten steel, facilitate the casting and molding of molten steel, reduce the defects of ingots, and improve the yield rate of steel.

FAQ

 

Q: What's the difference between 0-2mm, 0-1mm, and 0-3mm? Which one should I buy?

A: 0-1mm is finer, has poor flowability, and is prone to clumping, making it unsuitable for cored wire. 0-3mm is coarser, and the presence of coarse particles can easily clog the conduit. 0-2mm is the industry standard and the most widely used.

Q: What percentage of your 0-2mm powder is 0-0.5mm fine powder?

A: We control it to around 25%, not too high. Too much fine powder will affect flowability. If you have specific requirements, we can adjust the screen.

Q: Can the powder still be used if it gets damp?

A: The calcium in calcium silicon powder is very reactive; it clumps when damp, reducing flowability. We recommend against using it, otherwise the wire feeder will have unstable feeding, and it may even break the wire. Our powder is vacuum-packed or stored in moisture-proof ton bags in a dry place.
