Manganese metal lump, also called pyrometallurgical manganese or fused manganese, are smelted in an electric arc furnace. Compared to electrolytic manganese flakes (purity above 99.5%), its purity is lower (93%-97%), but its price is significantly cheaper. Main uses include:
Deoxidation of plain carbon steel: Replacing electrolytic manganese metal, saving costs.
Wear-resistant steel alloys: Producing high-manganese steel (Mn13) requires large amounts of manganese; pyrometallurgical manganese blocks are cost-effective.
Ordinary cast steel: Used in applications where high manganese purity is not required.

chemical composition
| Grade | Manganese content | Carbon content | Iron content | Suitable scenarios |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| JMn97 | ≥97% | ≤0.08% | ≤2.0% | Low-carbon steel, welding wire steel, steel grades with carbon requirements |
| JMn95 | ≥95% | ≤0.15% | ≤2.8% | Plain carbon steel, rebar, wear-resistant steel (Mn13) |
| JMn93 | ≥93.5% | ≤0.20% | ≤2.8-4.0% | Ordinary cast steel, cost-sensitive applications |
Note:
Customers producing wear-resistant steel (Mn13) mostly use JMn95 because its manganese content is sufficient and it's cheaper than JMn97.
Customers producing low-carbon steel must use JMn97 because its low carbon content (≤0.08%) prevents carbon buildup.
For customers producing ordinary cast steel, JMn93 is the most cost-effective option.
Products Uses
Deoxidizer
During the steelmaking process, oxygen in the molten steel will cause defects such as pores and slag inclusions in the steel. it has a strong affinity with oxygen and can quickly combine with oxygen to form manganese oxide, which is discharged through the slag, reducing the oxygen content in the steel, improving the purity of the steel, and enhancing the toughness and ductility of the steel.
Alloying agent
It is an important alloying element in steel, which can effectively improve the strength and hardness of steel; in wear-resistant steel, Mn metal lumps plays a key role. For example, high manganese steel, with a manganese content of 10% - 14%, has extremely high wear resistance and is often used to manufacture easily worn parts such as crusher hammers, wear-resistant liners, and excavator buckets; It can improve the hardenability of steel, so that the steel can obtain a deeper hardened layer during quenching, improve the comprehensive mechanical properties, and is suitable for manufacturing various mechanical parts.
Improving the organizational structure
In the production of aluminum alloys, adding Mn metal can refine the grains, improve the organizational structure, and improve the strength, hardness and corrosion resistance of aluminum alloys.
Catalyst
It and its compounds are used as catalysts in chemical production to accelerate chemical reactions; in organic synthesis reactions, such as catalytic oxidation and esterification reactions, the use of manganese catalysts can improve reaction efficiency, reduce costs, and increase product purity and yield.
Battery materials
It is a key component of some battery materials. For example, lithium manganese oxide, as a positive electrode material for lithium-ion batteries, has the characteristics of low cost and abundant resources, and is widely used in consumer electronics, power tools and some electric vehicle battery manufacturing.
Electronic components
In the manufacture of electronic components, It is used to adjust the magnetic properties of magnetic materials. These magnetic materials are used to manufacture electronic components such as transformers and inductors, and are used in computers, mobile phones, home appliances and other equipment to ensure signal processing and normal operation of equipment.
Electronic packaging materials
Certain compounds of manganese metal can improve the performance of electronic packaging materials, such as enhancing heat resistance and mechanical strength, and protecting internal electronic components from the influence of the external environment.
Agriculture
Manganese is a trace element necessary for plant growth. In agricultural production, manganese fertilizer can supplement manganese in the soil, promote plant photosynthesis, respiration and nitrogen metabolism, increase crop yield and quality, and prevent plant manganese deficiency.
Medicine
In the field of medicine, some manganese compounds have medicinal value. For example, potassium permanganate is a commonly used disinfectant with strong oxidizing properties and can be used for wound disinfection and environmental disinfection.

FAQ
Q: What's the difference between JMn95-A and JMn95-B?
A: The main difference between A and B is the iron content. A has ≤2.8% iron, while B has ≤3.0% iron. A is slightly more expensive than B, but has a lower iron content. Customers making aluminum alloys are more concerned about iron content and will choose A; customers making carbon steel will find B sufficient.
Q: Can you customize the size of your manganese blocks?
A: Yes. Standard sizes are 10-50mm, 10-60mm, and 10-100mm. If you need smaller particles (e.g., 1-10mm), we can also crush and screen them.
Q: Is it normal for manganese blocks to have an oxide scale on the surface?
A: Yes, it's normal. Manganese oxidizes in air, and a thin oxide scale on the surface does not affect use. However, if it is severely damp, blackened, or clumps, it may have deteriorated, and we recommend discontinuing its use.
