The functions and differences between ferrosilicon and ferrosilicon powder

Are ferrosilicon and ferrosilicon powder the same? The answer is yes, ferrosilicon and ferrosilicon powder just present different particle sizes.

The main component of ferrosilicon is an alloy composed of silicon, iron and other elements. Ferrosilicon is a ferroalloy made from coke, steel scraps, quartz (or silica) as raw materials and smelted in an electric furnace. The national standard ferrosilicon includes FeSi75A, FeSi75B, and FeSi75C. Our factory also produces non-standard ferrosilicon FeSi65.

Main uses of ferrosilicon

1

Deoxidizer and alloy agent in steelmaking industry: Because silicon and oxygen can easily combine to form silica, and at the same time, a large amount of heat is generated when silica is generated, ferrosilicon can be used as a deoxidizer for steelmaking, and generates a large amount of heat during deoxidation, improving the quality of molten steel. Temperature reduces energy consumption. In addition, ferrosilicon can also be used as an alloying element additive, that is, alloying agent. It is widely used in products such as low alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel and electrical silicon steel.

Ferrosilicon is commonly used as a reducing agent in ferroalloy production and chemical industry.

In the foundry industry, ferrosilicon particles are good inoculants and spheroidizing agents. When used as an inoculant, the particle size distribution of ferrosilicon particles is: 0.2-0.8mm with flow inoculant, 1-3mm, 3-8mm and other specifications

Ferrosilicon powder is ferrosilicon powder obtained by crushing and finely crushing ferrosilicon. Like ferrosilicon blocks, its main component is an alloy composed of silicon, iron and other elements.

Ferrosilicon powder is mainly used as a suspended phase in the mineral processing industry and as welding rod coating in welding rod manufacturing.
