75% ferrosilicon refers to ferrosilicon with a silicon content between 72% and 80%. Why 75? Because it's a commonly used midpoint in the industry for easy memorization. In chemical composition tables, it's classified as Grade A or Grade B. What's the difference?
Grade A: Impurities are more strictly controlled, especially aluminum, phosphorus, and sulfur. It's mainly sold to customers producing high-end and specialty steels, such as factories producing automotive steel sheets and pipeline steel, which have high purity requirements.
Grade B: Impurities are relatively less strictly controlled, but it offers better value for money. It's sold to customers producing ordinary steel, castings, or for steel deoxidation; it's sufficient and saves money.
75% ferrosilicon is the most commonly used basic alloy in the steel and casting industries. Simply put, it mainly does three things:
As a deoxidizer in steelmaking: It removes oxygen from molten steel, turning it into slag which is then discharged, making the steel "cleaner."
As an alloying element: It adds silicon to steel to increase its strength and hardness.
During casting, it is used as an inoculant: added to molten iron, it helps the graphite grow finer and more uniformly, thus improving the quality of the casting.

For deoxidation of plain carbon steel and general castings: Grade B is sufficient, such as FeSi75-B; it's affordable and effective.
For alloy steel, export steel, and products sensitive to impurities: Grade A is recommended, such as FeSi75-A or FeSi75Al1.0-A; these have fewer impurities and consistent quality.
For those particularly concerned about aluminum content: We offer FeSi75Al0.5-A with Al ≤ 0.5%, exclusively for high-end customers.
There are many uses for ferrosilicon
1) Steelmaking Deoxidation & Alloying
Strong deoxidizer: Reacts with oxygen to form SiO₂, improving steel cleanliness & density
Alloy strengthening: Enhances strength, hardness, elasticity & permeability in carbon steel, low‑alloy steel, spring steel & electrical steel
Dosage: 0.1%–0.5% of molten steel weight
2) Gray Cast Iron Inoculation
Promotes graphite refinement, prevents white cast, improves machinability
Dosage: 0.2%–0.8% of molten iron weight
3) Ductile Iron Production
Acts as auxiliary inoculant for spheroidization, improving nodularity & toughness
Spheroidization auxiliary: 0.5%–1.5%; post‑inoculation: 0.3%–0.8%
4) Cast Steel Smelting
Deep deoxidation & purification for precision & engineering castings
Dosage: 0.2%–0.5%
5) Nodulizer Raw Material
Base material for magnesium‑rare earth nodulizers
Ensures stable composition for consistent spheroidization effect
6) Other Applications
Reducing agent for low‑carbon ferroalloys
Suspension phase in mineral processing
Coating for welding electrodes
Additive for heat‑resistant & wear‑resistant alloys
