Silicon Chrome Alloy (also called Ferrosilicochromium) is a composite ferroalloy mainly composed of silicon, chromium and iron, manufactured by submerged arc furnace in accordance with GB/T 4009-2008 national standard. Our mainstream 10-50mm lump specification is the most widely used size for ladle and furnace feeding.


It integrates the strong deoxidation performance of silicon and the alloy strengthening effect of chromium. It can complete deoxidation and chromium alloying in one feeding operation, effectively reduce chromium oxidation loss, simplify smelting procedures and cut comprehensive production costs. It is a core raw material for stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, high-performance ductile iron and low-carbon ferrochrome production.

 Synergistic Deoxidation & Alloying: Silicon preferentially reacts with oxygen in molten steel to form stable oxides, protecting chromium from oxidation. The chromium recovery rate reaches 92%–96%, 7%–11% higher than separate addition of ferrosilicon and ferrochrome.
 Stable Melting Performance: 10-50mm uniform lumps feature low dust, fast melting and uniform reaction, suitable for manual and automatic feeding systems.

Products Application

 

1) Stainless Steel & Special Steel Smelting

It is the preferred composite additive for 304, 316 stainless steel, heat-resistant steel and tool steel. Silicon completes deep deoxidation to improve molten steel purity; chromium forms a dense passivation film on the steel surface, greatly enhancing corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength. Compared with separate raw materials, it realizes more precise composition control for finished steel.

2) High-Quality Ductile Iron & Castings

As an efficient inoculant and alloy additive for ductile iron and gray cast iron. It refines graphite structure, eliminates white cast defects, and improves machinability. Trace chromium stabilizes the matrix structure, enhancing wear resistance and thermal fatigue resistance. Widely used in engine crankshafts, gears, hydraulic parts and high-temperature castings.

3) Intermediate Alloy for Low-Carbon Ferrochrome Production

Used as key raw material in electro-silicon thermal process for producing medium, low and micro-carbon ferrochrome. Its high silicon and low carbon characteristics help reduce carbon content efficiently, which is essential for manufacturing ultra-low carbon stainless steel and high-end alloy steel.

4) Other Metallurgical Applications

Applied in wear-resistant steel, spring steel and high-temperature alloy production; also used as reducing agent in non-ferrous metal smelting to optimize finished material performance.
