Ferrosilicon nitride is a novel composite alloy material, primarily composed of silicon nitride (Si₃N₄) and ferrosilicon (Fe₃Si, Fe₂Si) phases, with small amounts of free silicon and silicon carbide. It combines the strong deoxidizing ability of silicon with the solid solution strengthening and grain refining effects of nitrogen, making it an ideal choice for efficient deoxidizers and microalloying additives in modern steelmaking processes.

A3: The nitrogen yield is typically between 60-80%, but it is affected by the following factors:

Oxygen/sulfur content of the molten steel: The higher the oxygen and sulfur content, the lower the nitrogen yield. Therefore, the molten steel should be well deoxidized before addition.

Addition method and stirring: Adding with the steel stream and stirring with bottom-blown argon can significantly improve the yield.

Steel composition: The presence of nitride-forming elements such as Cr, V, and Nb in the steel increases the solubility of nitrogen, thereby increasing the yield.
