Product Introduction

Casting ferro Silicon Magnesium alloy, commonly known as a spheroidizing agent, serves one purpose: to transform flake graphite into spheroids, making cast iron more durable and resilient. Our spheroidizing agent is a rare earth fesimg alloy. Compared to ordinary fesimg alloy, the addition of rare earth elements results in:

Enhanced Mechanical Properties

It enhances the mechanical properties of the casting, providing better heat resistance, tensile strength, and corrosion resistance.

Improved Performance

This alloy aids in refining the microstructure of the castings, leading to improved mechanical and processing properties, making the castings suitable for various industrial applications.

Nodularizing Effect

Ferrosilicon Magnesium has a nodularizing effect on cast iron, helping transform the graphite structure from flake form to nodular form, thereby improving ductility and toughness.

How to choose a spheroidizing agent?

Casting Types Recommended grade Magnesium content Rare earth content
Ordinary ductile iron castings QRMg7HRE2 6-8% 1.5-2.5% Sufficient magnesium, moderate rare earth content, optimal cost-effectiveness
High-strength ductile iron castings QRMg8HRE3 7-9% 2.5-4.0% A balanced magnesium and rare earth ratio results in high spheroidization rate
Thick and large-section ductile iron castings QRMg8HRE5 7-9% 4.0-6.0% High rare earth content provides strong resistance to fading
Extra-thick and large-section/high-performance castings QRMg8HRE7 7-9% 6.0-8.0% Maximum rare earth content ensures high spheroidization rate in the core
High-sulfur molten iron or special processes QRMg10HRE7 9-11% 6.0-8.0% High magnesium content compensates for sulfur-induced burn-off

FAQ

Q: If the binder gets damp, can it still be used after drying?

A: Not recommended. Damp binders have partially oxidized magnesium, and drying cannot restore them. Using them will reduce the spheroidizing effect and may cause porosity.
Q: Should I choose large or small sizes for the binder?

A: It depends on the size of the molten iron ladle. For small ladles (under 1 ton), choose 5-15mm particles for faster melting; for large ladles (over 5 tons), choose 10-30mm particles for a more stable reaction and less burn-off.
Q: What is the difference between yours and ordinary ferro Magnesium Silicon alloy?

A: Ordinary ferro Silicon Magnesium do not contain rare earth elements, have poor anti-fading properties, and are only suitable for small, thin-walled castings. Our rare earth magnesium-silicon ferrosilicon exhibits strong resistance to fading, produces cleaner molten iron, and generates rounder graphite spheroids, making it suitable for thick-section castings and high-performance parts.

Q: Is the quality of your spheroidizing agent consistent between batches?

A: Consistency is paramount. We test each batch with a spectrometer before shipment to ensure that fluctuations in magnesium and rare earth content are controlled within a very small range. Material certificates are included with each shipment.
