Properties Of Chromium Silicon Alloy

More than 90% of chromium silicon alloy is used as a reducing agent for electro-silicon thermal smelting of medium, low and micro-carbon ferrochrome. In addition, chromium silicon alloy is also used as a deoxidizer and alloying agent for steelmaking. With the development of oxygen steelmaking, the use of chromium silicon alloy to reduce chromium in steel slag and to add some chromium has been increasingly widely used. According to statistics, an average of about 0.5kg of chromium silicon alloy is consumed per ton of steel.

Properties of chromium silicon alloy

Chromium silicon alloy is a silicide of chromium and iron, which is ferrochrome containing sufficient silicon.

Chromium silicide is more stable than carbide, so when the silicon content in Fe-Cr-Si alloy increases, the carbon content decreases.
