What is the difference between silicon manganese 6818 and high carbon silicon 6818

Silicon manganese 6818 and high carbon silicon 6818 are two different alloy materials, which are mainly used in steel production and have different chemical compositions and application characteristics.

Chemical composition

1. Silicon manganese 6818: The main components of silicon manganese alloy are silicon (Si) and manganese (Mn). Among them, the silicon content is generally below 10%, and the manganese content is usually between 65% and 75%. The "6818" of silicon manganese 6818 indicates the composition ratio of the alloy, and the specific value may vary according to the standards of different manufacturers.

2. High carbon silicon 6818: High carbon silicon alloy is mainly composed of silicon (Si) and a higher content of carbon (C), and the carbon content is higher, usually around 20%. The "6818" of high carbon silicon 6818 also represents the specific ratio of the alloy.

Uses

1. Silicon manganese 6818: Mainly used as a deoxidizer and alloy element additive in steel production. It can increase the strength and hardness of steel, and improve the mechanical properties and wear resistance of steel.

2. High carbon silicon 6818: Due to its high carbon content, it is often used in applications that require higher strength and wear resistance, such as the production of high-strength steel, tool steel, etc.

Performance

1. Silicon manganese 6818: Due to its high manganese content, it has good deoxidation and reducibility, and is suitable for molten steel treatment in steel smelting.

2. High carbon silicon 6818: The high carbon content gives it higher hardness and wear resistance, but it may also bring higher brittleness.

Manganese Silicon

In general, the main difference between silicon manganese 6818 and high carbon silicon 6818 lies in their chemical composition and application areas. Silicon manganese 6818 is suitable for deoxidation and alloy addition in steel smelting, while high carbon silicon 6818 is mainly used for steel products that require higher strength and wear resistance.
