Ferrosilicon is an ferro alloy composed of iron and silicon. Ferrosilicon with high carbon content has a relatively high carbon content. The main components of high carbon ferrosilicon are silicon, iron and carbon. It is smelted in an electric arc furnace using a carbonaceous reducing agent and raw materials such as silica and steel scraps. Its appearance is generally blocky and the surface is silver-gray.
High carbon ferrosilicon is often used in steelmaking furnaces. For example, as a new type of strong composite deoxidizer, it can also be used for the tempering of general steel, alloy steel and special steel. In addition, as a temperature-raising agent, it can replace the higher-priced traditional temperature-raising agent required in converter and open-hearth steelmaking.

Uses of high carbon content ferrosilicon
• Steelmaking
Used as a deoxidizer. Since silicon and oxygen have a strong affinity, high carbon Fesi is added during the steelmaking process. The silicon element reacts with oxygen in the molten steel to produce products such as silicon dioxide, thereby achieving the purpose of deoxidation and improving the quality of steel.
• Casting industry
It is an important inoculant and spheroidizer. Adding high carbon ferrosilicon during the casting process can refine graphite flakes, make graphite distribution more uniform, and effectively improve the mechanical properties of castings, such as improving the strength, hardness and toughness of castings.
• Ferroalloy production
Used to prepare other alloys. By adjusting the composition, multi-element ferroalloys with different properties can be produced to meet the needs of various industrial production.
