Ferro Calcium Silicon powder is a composite ferro alloy product with important uses in the fields of metallurgy and casting. Iron (Fe) is a matrix element that provides basic strength and stability for the alloy and is one of the main components of the alloy. Silicon has a strong deoxidizing ability. During steelmaking and casting, it can combine with oxygen to form silicon dioxide, thereby reducing the oxygen content in the molten metal and improving the purity of the metal. At the same time, silicon can also improve the strength, hardness and heat resistance of steel and cast iron. Calcium also accounts for a certain proportion in calcium iron silicon powder. Calcium can effectively desulfurize, reduce the sulfur content in steel and cast iron, and reduce the adverse effects of sulfur on metal properties, such as hot brittleness. In addition, calcium can also improve the fluidity of steel and cast iron, refine grains, and improve the quality and performance of castings.
Other elements may also contain a small amount of aluminum (Al), carbon (C), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S) and other elements. Although the content of these elements is relatively small, they will also have a certain impact on the performance of calcium iron silicon powder, and their content needs to be strictly controlled during the production process. For example, aluminum also has a deoxidizing effect to a certain extent, but excessive aluminum may affect the toughness of steel; excessive content of impurity elements such as carbon, phosphorus, and sulfur will reduce the performance of the metal, and their content is generally required to be as low as possible.

Production Process
Raw Material Preparation:
Silica (SiO₂ content ≥ 98%), limestone (CaCO₃ content ≥ 95%), and coke (fixed carbon ≥ 85%) are used as the core raw materials. They are mixed and crushed to a size of 5-20mm according to the appropriate ratio.
High-Temperature Smelting:
The mixed raw materials are fed into a submerged arc furnace (also known as an electric arc furnace). At temperatures of 1800-2000°C, a carbon reduction reaction forms a calciumsilicon alloy (reaction equation: CaCO₃ → CaO + CO₂↑, CaO + SiO₂ + 3C → CaSi₂ + 3CO↑).
Crushing and Pulverizing:
The resulting siliconcalcium alloy ingots are cooled, crushed in a jaw crusher and ball mill, and then screened to control the size, ultimately producing CaSi powder of varying fineness.
Product uses
Deoxidizer
In the steelmaking process, Calcium Silicon powder is an effective deoxidizer. The synergistic effect of silicon and calcium can quickly reduce the oxygen content in the molten steel, reduce the formation of oxide inclusions in the steel, and improve the purity and quality of the steel. Compared with a single deoxidizer, calcium iron silicon powder has a more comprehensive deoxidation effect and can better meet the strict requirements of modern steelmaking technology for the purity of molten steel.
Desulfurizer
Calcium can react with sulfur during the steelmaking process to generate calcium sulfide and enter the slag, thereby reducing the sulfur content in the steel. For some steel types with strict requirements on sulfur content, such as high-quality carbon steel, alloy steel, etc., the desulfurization effect of calcium iron silicon powder is particularly important, which can effectively improve the hot working performance and mechanical properties of steel.
Alloying agent
Silicon, calcium and other elements in FeCaSi powder can be added to steel as alloying elements to adjust the chemical composition of steel and improve the strength, hardness, toughness and heat resistance of steel. For example, when producing high-strength alloy steel, adding CaSi powder in appropriate amounts can optimize the organizational structure of steel and improve its comprehensive performance.
Inoculant
In the casting process, ferro silicon calcium powder can be used as an inoculant. It can promote the crystallization and growth of graphite in cast iron, refine graphite grains, and improve the mechanical properties of cast iron. Especially in the production of gray cast iron and ductile iron, the inoculation effect of ferrosilicon calcium powder can improve the strength, toughness and ductility of castings, reduce defects such as shrinkage cavities and shrinkage porosity of castings, and improve the quality and yield of castings.
Nodularizer auxiliary agent
In the production of ductile iron, ferro calcium silicon powder can sometimes be used as an auxiliary additive for spheroidizer. When used in conjunction with a spheroidizing agent, it helps stabilize the spheroidizing effect, improve the morphology and distribution of graphite nodules, and further enhance the performance of ductile iron, enabling it to meet higher usage requirements.
