Low titanium ferro phosphorus is a phosphorus ferro alloy with a low titanium content. It is mainly composed of iron and phosphorus, and has a low titanium content. The main difference between it and ordinary phosphorus-iron alloys is the titanium content. Low-titanium ferrophosphorus usually contains less titanium (usually less than 0.1%). The low content of titanium makes its application in steelmaking more specific and can meet the needs of some specific steel grades.
The main characteristics of low-titanium ferrophosphorus are high phosphorus content and low titanium content. Phosphorus can effectively improve the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of steel, while titanium has a certain effect on the deoxidation, size and microstructure of steel. Low-titanium ferrophosphorus can avoid the adverse effects caused by excessive titanium without affecting the overall performance of steel.

Steel mills use low titanium ferro phosphorus mainly for the following reasons
Deoxidizer effect:
Ferrophosphorus reacts with oxygen at high temperature and has a reducing property, which can be used as an effective deoxidizer. In the steelmaking process, ferrophosphorus can remove oxygen from molten steel, reduce the oxygen content in steel, and thus improve the quality of steel.
Purification effect:
In the steelmaking process, low-titanium ferrophosphorus can not only deoxidize, but also purify the molten steel to a certain extent, removing other impurities in the steel such as sulfur, nitrogen and non-metallic inclusions, which have an adverse effect on the performance of steel.
Alloy element addition:
Phosphorus in ferrophosphorus can form alloy phases such as iron phosphide (Fe3P) with iron in steel, which can increase the strength and hardness of steel. Iron phosphide plays a role in grain boundary strengthening and grain refinement in steel, thereby improving the mechanical properties of steel.
Adjusting the organization:
Adding low-titanium ferrophosphorus in an appropriate amount can adjust the organizational structure of steel, control the grain growth of steel, and refine the grain size. This helps to improve the cold working performance, toughness and weldability of steel.
Special steel requirements:
In the smelting process of some special steels, there are strict requirements on the titanium content in steel. Excessive titanium content may affect the mechanical properties and processing properties of steel. Therefore, the use of low-titanium ferrophosphorus can meet the smelting needs of these special steels.
Optimizing the smelting process:
Low-titanium ferrophosphorus has the advantages of convenient operation, wear resistance, and fragility during the smelting process, which can shorten the melting time and improve the smelting efficiency. At the same time, its strong plasticity and full slag penetration help reduce iron loss and improve smelting quality.
Environmental protection requirements:
With the increasingly stringent environmental regulations, steel mills are paying more and more attention to environmental performance when selecting raw materials. As an environmentally friendly raw material, low-titanium ferrophosphorus meets the current environmental protection requirements.
Economic benefits:
Although the price of low-titanium ferrophosphorus may be slightly higher than that of ordinary ferrophosphorus, its excellent performance and high efficiency in the smelting process make the use of low-titanium ferrophosphorus bring significant economic benefits. For example, by reducing iron loss and improving smelting quality, production costs can be reduced and product added value can be increased.
